Plein Air Pastels

I painted these small studies en plein air in September and October 2011. The weather in Lucca, Italy was lovely and the light just as enticing. They are each 20x30cm and I planned to use them to paint larger works in oil as I prepared for a big show in Cortona in September/October 2012.

 

Below are some pictures of the subject I was painting and the pastel in progress, as well as one of the pastels worked up into a larger oil.
