2008 was the first year in which I had a studio in Zambia, my previous Zambian work had all been painted outside. I rented a rondavel in Mfuwe, just 20 km from the entrance to S. Luangwa National Park. I believe I was there at least 8 months.
This was my first collection of combining animals and plants (nature) with other motifs and designs. I tried to consistently use: circles, spirals, squares, metallic paint, collage, color ribbons, negative painting, and natural and/or human elements.
