Many of the paintings below were presented in a show in Italy in 2013 sponsored by the Fondazione Banca del Monte di Lucca. I addressed the idea of how the landscape in Italy would look if we humans were to die out and the animals to return to where many of their ancestors once lived (mammoths, prehistoric rhinos, etc.) Hence the crocodile in Venice, the giraffes above Lucca, and the elephants amidst the grapevines.
A somewhat misanthropic fantasy, I admit.
